Transportation in Northwest India


During our visit to the state of Gujarat in last few days, we noticed many different means of transportation that locals use to travel. Each vehicle was big enough to carry at least 6-7 people.

Below are the pictures of different types of Auto Riskshaws that you get see in Northwest part of India. The one on the left is a seven seater but most of the times it carries 10-12 people. The charge is unmetered and per person depending on the distance. On the right, is another type of Rikshaw. I call it the motor cart :).

These are called “Chakadas” in our local language as it has a minimum capacity of six. The third photo is the truck used by local agencies for long distance travel.
